About This Place

Located in the heart of Santa Barbara on State Street, Sushi Tyme offers a contemporary sushi dining experience that perfectly blends fresh, flavorful ingredients with a warm and inviting atmosphere. Specializing in Japanese cuisine with a creative twist, this sushi restaurant excels at delivering authentic taste alongside innovative menu items.

At Sushi Tyme, the menu is a celebration of sushi artistry and comforting Japanese favorites. Noteworthy dishes like the Albacore Tyme Roll and the Godzilla Roll showcase masterful rolls packed with fresh seafood, vibrant textures, and balanced flavor profiles that keep customers coming back. Fans of hearty dishes will delight in the Chicken Teriyaki Bowl and the Mixed Tempura Rice Bowl, where tempura-battered shrimp and vegetables are served over a bed of perfectly steamed rice, complemented by crisp organic greens and a subtle house ponzu vinaigrette. The Spicy Seafood Ramen adds a punchy, robust option for those craving something warm and savory, while the variety of classic rolls—from the Negi Hamachi Roll to the Philadelphia Roll—offer traditional flavors with meticulous preparation.

What truly sets Sushi Tyme apart is its attentive and genuine service. One satisfied diner, Charoen Rich, recalls being warmly welcomed and cared for, with the staff’s sweet hospitality enhancing the overall dining experience. This attention to customer care cultivates a friendly and relaxed dining environment that feels both personal and enjoyable, whether you’re visiting solo, with friends, or family.

The selection also impresses with its diverse salads like the Chicken Teriyaki Salad and the vegetarian-friendly Tofu Teriyaki Salad, each served with the same fresh organic greens and house-crafted dressings that highlight the restaurant’s commitment to quality. Pair a meal with a refreshing cider or explore unique offers like the Sushi Deluxe or the G-Special Roll Soypaper, ensuring there’s something delightful for every palate.

While some may notice subtle differences in offerings—for instance, the ramen leaning towards a Korean-style Shin ramen interpretation as noted by customer Tai Yin Cheung—this playful fusion only adds an unexpected layer of charm and culinary curiosity to the menu.

From the first bite of the delicate sushi rolls to the comforting warmth of a teriyaki bowl, Sushi Tyme captures the essence of Japanese dining with a Southern California twist. Its cozy, upbeat ambiance combined with tantalizing dishes and dedicated service makes it a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic yet inventive sushi experience in Santa Barbara.

Their special rolls taste delicious :) however the ramen is a little disappointing, which is nothing like Japanese ramen, but instead something like Korean Shin is being served. Of course I won't be complaining since I'm a fan of Shin, but I want people to know what to expect
